New Hyde Park woman found dead in kitchen, son unconscious nearby

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a woman found dead in her home and her son unconscious in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives, the victim’s husband found his wife dead with stab wounds on the kitchen floor Tuesday evening in their home on Knolls Drive.

The victim’s son, Vaughn H. Bloom, 44, was discovered by police unconscious on the couch. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed as being in guarded condition.

Police later identified the victim as Sandra Bloom, 67, of New Hyde Park.

A homicide investigation is underway.
