UPPER WEST SIDE — A man found unconscious in a Manhattan store Thursday afternoon has died and his death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
It happened about 2 p.m. at 906 Amsterdam Ave., an address situated in a retail strip home to a nail salon, jewelry shop and t-shirt store. The victim was found inside BNC General Merchandise, police said.
Officers received a 911 call about a unconscious man inside that store. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from severe blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at a hospital and his death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
The deceased’s name has not been released because his family has not been notified of his death. Police identified the victim only as a male in his 20s.
Details about what happened to him are scarce. An NYPD spokesperson told PIX11 News the victim may have been a worker or the victim of a robbery turned violent, but an official motive for his slaying has not been determined.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
