NEWARK – A Delta plane is under investigation at Newark Liberty airport because of an unspecified security threat on board, a source told PIX11.

The plane, Delta Flight 69, took off from London with 202 people on board, including 11 crew members.  The aircraft was directed to an isolated area where the passengers deplaned and went through additional security screening.

Port Authority police, K9 Units, Emergency Service Units and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting also responded to the scene.

Delta released the following statement Monday:

Delta flight 69 from London Heathrow to Newark Liberty International Airport was directed to park on the airfield by FAA and airport officials. Customers were deplaned with their carry-on bags and transported via bus to be screened by Customs and Border Protection agents. Additional screening of passenger checked luggage was also completed before being released. The safety and security of Delta customers and crew is always our top priority.
