PERTH AMBOY, N.J. — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a 22-year-old woman who went missing near the Perth Amboy Victory Bridge early Saturday.

The New York sector received a missing persons report at 2 a.m. stating that the woman was swept away by the current of the Raritan River, according to a friend who witnessed it.

The Coast Guard has deployed divers and aviation crews to search for the victim, it said in a release. Anyone with information on the missing swimmer is asked to contact the watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York at 718-354-4353.
