QUEENS — Police say two officers have been treated at a hospital after a man fired a gun at them in Queens.
Authorities say a plainclothes sergeant and a police officer were patrolling the Redfern Houses in Far Rockaway shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday when they saw six men standing outside of a building. They say when the officers got out of their unmarked vehicle and walked across the street, a man in a hooded sweatshirt fired three times at them before running away.
Police say the officers took cover but didn't return fire.
They were taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital. The sergeant was treated for tinnitus and the police officer was treated for back spasms and a bruised knee. Both were released.
No firearm was recovered, however three 9mm shell casings were recovered in front of the location, police said.
An investigation is continuing.
