Two young children found dead in East Haven home after ‘suspicious’ gas leak

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (PIX11)-- Two kids were found dead in a Connecticut home Tuesday afternoon.

According to WTIC, police responded to a medical emergency on Strong Street in East Haven around 2:41 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a 5-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl dead.

The children's mother was outside of the home, despondent and with injuries. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for injuries including gas inhalation.

Officers say a gas leak occurred in the home. The circumstances surrounding the leak are under investigation.

Police Chief Brent Larrabee said the deaths are considered suspicious and the bodies had been there for possibly more than 24 hours.
