NEW YORK -- Vanity Fair on Monday revealed its newest cover star: Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympian and reality TV star formerly known as Bruce who has publicly shared her transition from male to female.

"I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self," Jenner tweeted from a verified account shortly after the cover photo was released online. "Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me."

After months of media speculation, Jenner in April announced "I am a woman" in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer, but stopped short of revealing her new name.

The latest issue of Vanity Fair chronicles her journey in depth and announces to the world her newly public identity.

"If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life,'" Jenner told Vanity Fair.
