EDISON, N.J. (PIX11) — A high-profile sex offender has been reported missing after failing to check in with his parole officer.

According to, Paul Timmendequas, 51, did not return to his home on Tuesday. Timmendequas had been living in the Beauty Rest Motel on Route 1.

Timmendequas was convicted of sex crimes against two young girls in 1999. He was sentenced to seven years at a treatment center for sexual offenders.

Police say Timmendequas should have an ankle monitoring bracelet but haven’t been able to track him.

His brother, Jesse Timmendequas is serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of 7-year-old Megan Kanka in 1994. A law was later named for Megan requiring convicted sex offenders to register and identify themselves when moving into a neighborhood.

Anyone who may see Timmendequas is advised not to approach him and to call police.
