Police seek shooter who gunned down 40-year-old Staten Island man

TOMPKINSVILLE, Staten Island (PIX11)– Police are looking for the shooter who killed a 40-year-old man on Staten Island Thursday evening.

Police were responding to a call of an assault in the vicinity of 70 Corson Ave before 10 p.m. Thursday, they said.

Upon arrival, cops saw Paul Johnson of Staten Island unconscious and lying on Fremont St between Corson Ave and Brook St after sustaining at least one gunshot wound to his head, according to the NYPD.

Paramedics transported the victim to Richmond University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
