10-week-old baby found in Queens park dies

FOREST HILLS, Queens (PIX11) – The body of a young girl was found Wednesday afternoon in a Queens park, according to police.

Around 12:30 p.m. police received a call reporting an unconscious baby in a park near Borage Place and Burns Street.  Officers found a 10-week-old baby girl who appeared to be unresponsive.  She has since been identified as Zoey Kaplan, whose family lives on Dartmouth Street in Queens.

EMS rushed Kaplan to North Shore Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of death is not yet known pending the medical examiner’s report, but the mother told police the girl started choking after throwing up.

A police investigation is ongoing.
