Woman struck and killed by tour bus in Manhattan

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) — A woman was struck and killed by a tour while attempting to cross a Manhattan street Wednesday afternoon.

Police say 68-year-old Wanda Canestri tried to cross Amsterdam Avenue at the corner of West 113th Street at about 3:00 p.m. The white tour bus, which was parked along Amsterdam Avenue, moved forward and struck Canestri, causing her to fall underneath the bus.

Canestri was pronounced dead at the scene.

The bus driver remained at the scene and the incident is under investigation.
