Savings squad: How to cut down on home energy costs

(PIX11) -- Ask many homeowners which bill they hate paying the most, and they'll answer: heating and electric.

Jane Morales is one of those homeowners. The mom of two is a big time DIY’er but hasn’t been able to make a dent in neither her annual oil bill of $3,000 nor her electricity bill.

"We put in dimmer switches. We upgraded to an energy efficient washing machine," she said.

So PIX11 News brought in an expert: Steve from Home Depot. His goal: save Morales up to $1,000 a year on her utilities.
