Man allegedly tries to rape woman in Bronx stairwell: cops

WOODSTOCK, N.Y. (PIX11)-- A man allegedly tried to rape a woman climbing up the stairs of her building in the Bronx Tuesday morning, according to police.

NYPD said it happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when the attacker followed the 26-year-old victim inside her building located in the vicinity of Wales Ave and East 151 St. As she was walking up the stairwell, he grabbed her by the neck and demanded that she remove her pants, police said.

The victim did not comply and the assailant fled, cops said.

The culprit is approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a medium complexion, according to the NYPD. He was last seen wearing a grey baseball cap, white sneakers, black shirt and blue jeans.
