BROOKLYN (PIX11) - The Mill Basin drawbridge caused a traffic nightmare for commuters on Mother's Day after it became locked Sunday morning.

Around 10:45 a.m., the Mill Basin drawbridge became stuck in the open position, causing major delays and putting traffic on the Belt Parkway at a standstill.  Traffic has since started moving in both directions.

For roughly an hour after the bridge locked in place, however, the parkway resembled a parking lot, with people walking between cars, talking and stretching.

One person tweeted, "Literally a walking dead scene on the belt parkway.  Completely stopped, people walking around out of their cars . . . RIP"

As of 11:50 a.m. the drawbridge came down and traffic began moving again,  but some delays remain.
