LOWER MANHATTAN (PIX11) -- Another coyote sighting prompted a police chase in Lower Manhattan Saturday morning.

The coyote was seen running around the Battery Park City area around 8 a.m. Police began chasing the animal on foot and in patrol cars.

The coyote was finally captured and tranquilized outside Merchants River House restaurant on South End Avenue and Albany Street. The coyote was taken in for veterinary care and is reportedly doing well, according to the NYPD.

The coyote is restingĀ at the Center for Animal Care and Control.

A coyote was spotted on the Upper West Side earlier this week, but was able to escape. There is no word on if it is the same coyote caught this morning.
