NEW YORK (PIX11) — A smoky odor in the cockpit of a plane that had just landed at LaGuardia Airport briefly caused a disruption Tuesday.

Delta Flight 2522, which took off from Tampa, Fla., landed in Queens at 10:47 a.m., according to the airline’s online flight status tracker. That’s when the pilot noticed a smoky smell in the cockpit.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the crew shut down both engines and notified the airport fire department,” the airline said in a statement. ” The aircraft was towed to the gate where customers deplaned normally.”

Maintenance crews are looking into what caused the smell on the MD-88 aircraft, Delta said.

No one was hurt.
