NORWOOD, N.J. (PIX11) --  A New Jersey man was bit by a coyote while walking his dog Sunday evening.

The coyote attack took place on McClellan Street in the Fox Hill neighborhood Sunday evening.

"I could feel something on my back leg like a clamp," Stephen Sinisi described the painful ordeal."He must of ran up and bit me in seconds. I didn't even see it."

Sinisi drove himself to a local hospital and began treatment for possible exposure to rabies. Officials believe the coyote is ill.

Norwood Police Chief Jeffrey Krapels also had a close call with a coyote Sunday, "I saw a coyote and it was tracking me. Following me around," he told PIX11.

Mayor James Barsa warned residents, "if you live in the Fox Hill section of town,  you keep your children and pets inside right now until the situation is resolved."

Monday afternoon wildlife officials set traps to catch the coyote around the Fox Hill area.
