CASTLE HILL, The Bronx (PIX11) -- More than 10 shootings happened in the New York City area overnight, injuring a dozen people, according to the NYPD.
The worst shooting occurred at 575 Castle Hill Ave. in the Bronx around 9 p.m. when three bystanders were hit by stray bullets after a confrontation at a house party erupted in the streets.
The victims of that shooting were identified as a 15-year-old girl, a 23-year-old man and a 55-year-old man. All three were taken to a nearby hospital and are listed in stable condition.
Three other shootings took place in Brooklyn and six more in the Bronx since 8 p.m. Saturday.
Community leaders expressed outrage and concern over the shootings.
"We can't just depend on the police department to come up with outreach plans to stop violence in our communities," said Brooklyn community advocate Tony Herbert. "That's not their job, truth be told"
"The community has to take that lead," Herbert continued.
It was a violent weekend in New York City. On Friday night, two teens were shot at the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. One teen died from his injuries.
