PHILADELPHIA (PIX11) — It’s a fear most New Yorkers can associate with: falling onto the subway tracks.

Surveillance video shows a man in Philadelphia losing his footing and doing just that. But, a station full of Good Samaritans didn’t waste one second to help him get back to safety.

Without hesitation, a man in an Eagles coat darts toward the tracks and jumps off the platform while other passengers rush to help both men back onto the platform.

“This was a case where everybody almost in view jumped in and got involved,” said SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestal.

The man who fell suffered various broken bones, NBC Philadelphia reported. The Good Samaritan suffered a minor injury to his leg.

The Southeastern Philadelphia Transportation Authority commended the quick-thinking passengers but suggested passengers should notify the cashier or use the emergency call box in the future.
