Long Island woman arrested for DWI with 13-year-old in car

YAPHANK, Long Island (PIX11) — Police arrested a 47-year-old Long Island woman for driving while intoxicated with a 13-year-old girl in the car Friday night.

Colleen Lopez was driving on Patchogue Yaphank Road in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe around 8:40 p.m. when an officer on the lookout for drunk drivers pulled her over, Suffolk County police said.

Lopez was charged with driving while intoxicated with a passenger younger than 15 (Leandra’s Law) and endangering the welfare of a child.

The girl was turned over to a responsible adult, police said.

Lopez will be arraigned in Central Islip today.
