R&B singer Johnny Kemp, known for ‘Just Got Paid,’ found dead

(PIX11) — Johnny Kemp, the R&B known for the 1988 hit “Just Got Paid,” was found dead in Jamaica, the Associated Press reports.

Kemp, 55, was vacationing on the island and was reportedly near Montego Bay Thursday morning. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear at this time. The Bahamian singer was scheduled to be on a Caribbean cruise.

“Just Got Paid” earned Kemp a Grammy nomination for Best R&B song in 1989. The song all spawned a remix by pop group N’Sync.
