BROOKLYN/QUEENS (PIX11) -- Police are looking for a pair of thieves wanted for ripping off coin operated self-serve air pump machines from gas stations across Brooklyn and Queens, striking 17 times to date.

The NYPD says the duo uses a car with a tow hook and chain to forcibly remove the coin machines from the station, then speed off with the cash. They have hit gas stations at all hours of the day, though usually in the evenings. They've collected anywhere between $200 and $25,000 -- though on average they collected several thousand at each theft.

The two suspects are described as male, and could be either White or Hispanic. One suspect was seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and drove a blue Honda Accord.
