YONKERS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A busted water main sent muddy water gushing into streets in Yonkers, forcing the rush-hour closure on part of the Saw Mill River Parkway.

The water main broke shortly after 5 a.m., authorities said.

Traffic appears to be moving in both directions along the Saw Mill River Parkway near the break, according to aerial footage of the scene. Entrance and exit ramps are closed at Executive Boulevard (exit 9) and Nepperhan Avenue.

That portion of the parkway could be subject to further closures as the cleanup effort continues.

Drivers can use Route 9 or the New York State Thruway as alternates around the break.

Water was bleeding into the Saw Mill River and seeping into the nearby neighborhood for several blocks.
