EUGENE, Ore. (Tribune Media Wire) — There’s a lesson to be learned: never celebrate too early.

Over the weekend, The Pepsi Team Invitational in Eugene, Oregon, featured runners from Oregon, Kentucky and Washington. During the men’s steeplechase, Tanguy Pepiot thought he had the race won.

As he approached the finish line, he began celebrating his victory. But he hadn’t crossed the finish line.

Instead, Washington’s Meron Simon made a last second push to secure the victory as a confused Pepiot looked on.
