RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (PIX11) -- Officials in New Jersey caught a black bear on the loose in Ridgewood after it was spotted wandering through a residential neighborhood.

The 175-pound bear was tranquilized and caught on Kensington Drive by noon Saturday after it had been contained to a tree, the Ridgewood Police Department wrote on Facebook. It was removed by the New Jersey Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Before it was caught, the bear was spotted by PIX11 Viewer Paige Delaney, who shot it moseying around the yard before hopping the fence.

"Whoa, he just looked at me!" she exclaimed, before the bear made its escape.
