CALVERTON, N.Y. (AP) — Police say they have arrested a Long Island driver on suspicion of stabbing a man in the chest during a fit of road rage.

Michael Doroski, 25, of Wading River, faces a second-degree assault charge after Sunday’s incident in Calverton, authorities said.

Police said the suspect stabbed Brett Penny, 48, of Hampton Bays, on Second Avenue at Fresh Pond Road. The pair did not know each other, authorities said.

According to Newsday, police say the stabbing appeared to have been provoked by tailgating.

Penny was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
