Spring Valley man bites off man’s ear during fight

NEW CITY (PIX11) — A Spring Valley man bit off more than he could chew when he got into a fight Thursday in New City, police say.

According to Lohud, 34-year-old Eddy Bethancourth was arrested after allegedly biting off part of another man’s ear. He was charged with first-degree assault, a felony.

Police responded to Dolphin Road around 11:30 p.m. and saw the victim’s right ear partially bitten off.

The victim, a 33-year-old West Haverstraw resident, told police he was in a fight with the suspect. The victim was treated at the hospital.

Bethancourth, who had fled the scene, was taken to Rockland County jail on $25,000 bond.
