DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (PIX11) - A teenage pedophile whose bloodied mugshot went viral after he was beaten unconscious by his victim's father was sentenced to 25 years behind bars.
Raymond Frolander avoided life in prison by taking a plea deal -- he pleaded no contest to lewd and lascivious molestation of a child in Volusia County court and was sentenced Thursday.
Last July, a Daytona Beach father found Frolander sexually abusing his 11-year-old son and attacked him, pummeling the 18-year-old unconscious. The boy's dad, who was not charged, called police and told the operator, "He is nice and knocked out on the floor for you."
After the incident, the man, whose identity is not being revealed to protect the family, would have killed Frolander if his son hadn't asked him to stop, according to WESH.
While walking out of court Thursday, the victim's father told reporters, "He's going to learn in the next 25 years why I let him live."
Frolander will have a lifetime status as a sex offender and will have to wear an ankle bracelet when he is released from prison.
"I've learned to go on, and now I just need to re-instill trust in my grandson," his grandmother told reporters. "I feel for him. I wish somebody had gotten him help at some point, but this happened, and now the streets are free of a pedophile."
