Early morning fire kills 1, hurts 2 on Long Island

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (AP/PIX11) — Flames quickly ripped through a home on Long Island early Friday, injuring at least two people and killing another, officials said.

The call came in about 2:30 a.m. about a fire at 87 Debevoise Ave. in Roosevelt, Long Island.

Fire officials said two civilians were hurt in the blaze. Newsday reports a victim was found lifeless in a second-floor bedroom.

The cause of the fire at the 2½-story home is under investigation.

A fire official told Newsday there were 10 adults and no children in the home. None of the victims have been identified.
