Bronx aide arrested for stealing and forging checks from elderly Ramapo man

RAMAPO, N.Y. (PIX11) – A home aide was arrested Thursday for stealing and cashing checks of over $36,000 from an elderly man.

In December, an elderly Ramapo resident reported several blank checks were taken and cashed without his knowledge. They were taken directly out of his checkbook, which was stored in his home. His name was also forged on the checks.

The total amount of checks cashed was more than $36,000.

On Thursday, his home aide Sharon Ellis, was arrested. The 52-year-old from the Bronx was charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd degree (both felonies) and Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor.
