Some are even paying for it.

In fact one recent college graduate told the paper that he bought a 212 to have a local number on his resume.

He soon landed a job at an architecture firm in SoHo.

There is even a website called 212areacode.com that will you a 212 number if you really it will make you feel like a New Yorker.

The rate can go anywhere from $75 to $1,000.
