MASTIC, N.Y. (PIX11/CNN) — A Long Island man says he lost his job at Home Depot over the tattoo he has of his ex-girlfriend’s name.

The man’s ex-girlfriend’s name is Isis, according to News 12 Long Island. [Click link to see photo.]

Kirk Soccorso worked as a tool demonstrator at Home Depot in Patchogue for about six months until he showed off the lip tattoo to his co-workers.

“ISIS” is tattooed on the inside of his bottom lip. Soccorso has reportedly had the tattoo for four years, when he says he was dating his then girlfriend, Isis.

According to Soccorso, the store and the company paying him then told him not to return. Soccorso says he is not a terrorist and he is being treated unfairly.

“I honestly didn’t know what the acronym meant until just recently … I was just making conversation,” Soccorso said.

Soccorso is now reportedly considering a lawsuit. A Home Depot spokesperson says the decision to terminate Soccorso was not based on the tattoo.
