EAST FARMINGDALE, Long Island (PIX11) -- A 70-year-old driver allegedly fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run slammed into a restaurant on Long Island Thursday, hurting at least two customers who were inside, police said.
It happened about 10:20 a.m. at a Panera Bread located at 919 Broad Hollow Road in East Farmingdale, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The driver, identified as Jerome Arnold, was driving away from a hit-and-run crash when he careened into the restaurant, police said. He and his passenger were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

In a statement, the restaurant said its employees are cooperating with investigators to piece together what happened.
