LATROBE, Penn. (PIX11) — A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police say he held his girlfriend captive for three days, struck her with a hammer and poured bleach in her wounds and in her eyes.

The Pittsburg Post-Gazette reports that the woman told police her boyfriend, 43-year-old Glenn Whittier, began assaulting her inside their Spring Street apartment Wednesday. He reportedly continued the abuse until she escaped about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Whittier allegedly struck the woman several times on her body and pulled a “large amount” of hair from her head. There were visible bruises and bite marks on the woman, who was unsure of her surroundings, and police say her speech was slurred.

The woman was taken to the hospital where her condition is unknown. Her identity was not released.

Whittier faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, unlawful restraint, harassment and false imprisonment. He remains in jail on a $100,000 bail.
