HOPATCONG, New Jersey (PIX11) – A New Jersey mother is asking the public for help finding her sons, 7-year-old Jaxon and 8-year-old Parker Dohm, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, who have been missing since February 5, 2015. The Sussex County Prosecutor says they were abducted by their father, 36-year-old Kristopher Dohm.
“I want you to know, I love you and I miss you and I’ll never ever stop looking for you no matter what,” pleaded Sandra Dohm, the boys’ mother. Shaking, she had to momentarily turn her back during a press conference on Monday, when she was overcome with sadness.
“No matter what your dad is telling you, you need to know we love you, we are looking for you, and we want you to come back home," she sobbed.
Sandra Dohm says she and she and her ex-husband had joint custody of the children, one week on and one week off, for the last 5 years. Until the first week of February, when investigators say Mr. Dohm never returned with the children.
“Mr. Dohm, that week, asked for a few days extension. He told her his father was dying in Nevada,” said Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch, “and he asked for a few extra days, if he could fly out there with the boys, so they could visit with their ailing Grandfather.”
But that was a lie, said Prosecutor Koch, “Mr. Dohm’s father in Nevada was neither ill, nor dying.”
The boys have not been home since. Pictures released by the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office show the boys smiling and hugging their father. Kristopher Dohm is believed to have fled the state with the boys in a grey 2009 Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle was last spotted heading south through a tunnel in Baltimore, Maryland. Investigators say the S.U.V. could be outfitted with any of the following plate numbers: K15DXS, ZKL24F or S17CKV.
Jaxon Dohm has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 4’1’’ and approximately 60 pounds.
Parker Dohm has brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 4’5’’ and around 60 pounds. His mother says he is asthmatic and may be wearing glasses.
Kristopher Dohm has brown hair, brown eyes and is 5’7’’ and about 150 pounds. He has a barbed wire tattoo on his right arm and a tattoo on his left calf.
Investigators say all three may now have shaved heads, and that Parker and Kristopher may be in need of medical attention. Investigators are concerned about Parker's asthma and Kristopher has diabetes. Investigators worry that Kristopher may not be getting his daily dose of insulin.
There is a federal warrant out for Kristopher Dohm’s arrest for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Anyone with information is urged to call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children: 1-800-843-5678.
