EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Cops say a teacher was arrested Monday for slapping and punching his 14-year-old student, causing injury to his right eye.

Sakeem Nelbet, 34, allegedly smacked a 14-year-old male student in the face and punched him, injuring his right eye.

Nelbet was arrested Monday in Central Brooklyn at NYPD’s 67th Precinct. He has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child as well as misdemeanor assault.

A spokesperson from the Dept. of Education said, ““This alleged behavior is reprehensible. Mr. Nelbett has been removed from the classroom, and will remain far away from our students and schools.”

The Dept. of Education reports he has been reassigned from the classroom and will not be in contact with students.
