(PIX11)-- Old man winter is back to old his habits, giving the tri-state region another unwelcome shot of frigid air.

Record-low temperatures have occurred in many spots of the tri-state area this morning.

Sun won't be any help, low temperatures will be in the single digits in New York City and below zero in the northern and western suburbs.

Wind Chill Advisories have been posted for areas north of the city where it will feel like -20.

Temperatures continue to moderate Wednesday, with highs in the lower 30s.

The models are indicating a storm passing to our south heading into Thursday, but the track may shift northward. If the storm hugs the coast, we may get some wintry precipitation.

Friday will be dry but still cold with highs in the upper 20s.
