Hundreds evacuated into bitter cold after water main break at Manhattan hotel

FINANCIAL DISTRICT (PIX11)– A water main break forced around 400 people to be evacuated from a Holiday Inn in the Financial District Monday morning, according to FDNY.

They say it occurred around 4 a.m. at the franchise’s location on 99 Washington Street (map).

A preliminary investigation by officials say that the leak started on the roof and affected the building and elevators.

FDNY says one person is being treated for minor injuries and an investigation is ongoing.
