AUBURN, Penn. — A family in Pennsylvania was trying to install new insulation in their home when they found some unexpected “insulation” already lurking behind the walls.

The Bretzius family was shocked and disgusted to find dozens of dead animal carcasses in the walls, according to WNEP. They also discovered half-used spices and other items. All of the dead animals were wrapped in newspapers from the 1930s and 40s.

When the family bought the home back in 2011, a home inspector never found anything wrong with their dream home. But now the family is stuck with the repairs. Their insurance doesn’t cover anything, so the Bretzius family has spent about $20,000 trying to fix the problem.

After finding all the dead animals the family sent the artifacts to an expert to find out why someone would leave them in the walls of the home. The expert said the former homeowner was likely practicing Dutch magic and used this process to heal ailments.

The family still isn’t sure if all of the dead animals have been removed from the walls of their home.
