Transit employee shot in Greenwich Village

GREENWICH VILLAGE (PIX11) — A transit employee was shot in a Manhattan subway station Monday night.

The incident happened in the subway station at E. 14th Street and 7th Avenue.

Sources say the employee is a transit revenue agent, who collects proceeds from MetroCard machines.

Detectives are investigating, but preliminary information indicates it is a self inflicted gunshot wound.

The employee’s condition is unknown at this time.
