VALHALLA, N.Y. (PIX11) -- "In my 35 years I have never seen this," said Valhalla Fire Chief Roger King about what how he felt once he arrived to the scene of the crash scene.

King and all of the first responders met fire raging out of control and passengers running out of the Metro-North train Tuesday to save their lives.

King said, Tthe mass of people coming at us trying to get out was difficult especially trying to put out the fire."

Time, the weather, the fire and the dangerous third rail made matters worse said King.

To rescue passengers posed a different problem but ironically crews used the snow to their advantage.

Chief King also believes the next few days for first responders will be tough, so grief counselors will be on had to help them.
