TOBYHANNA, Pa. (AP) — Police say a 14-year-old Pennsylvania boy posed as a woman on Facebook to trick dozens of other boys into sending him nude photos and gift cards.

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police arrested the Tobyhanna boy last Thursday on charges of theft by extortion, transmission of sexually explicit images and solicitation.

The department says it identified 48 victims and at least 100 others who never responded to the boy’s messages.

Investigators say the boy pretended to be a woman named Jessica Carabello who promised the boys nude photographs in exchange for their pictures and then threatened to post them online if they didn’t send more.

Police say he used similar tactics to solicit gift cards.

The boy was released into his parents’ custody. He’s due in juvenile court next month.
