NEW LONDON, Conn. (PIX11) -- It has been anything but a winter wonderland in New London, Connecticut.

The city -- along with others parts of the northeastern region of the state -- was walloped by as much as nearly 30 inches of snow in some parts.

As residents spent most of Tuesday digging out themselves and their vehicles along Montauk Avenue, 15 miles to the east in Stonington, dozens of members of the Connecticut National Guard were called upon to assist in the snow removal process.

The excessive amount of snowfall crippled parts of the town.
