BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. (PIX11) — A newly released dashcam video shows a handcuffed woman stealing a  police cruiser and leading officers on a chase outside of Pittsburgh earlier this month.

Roxanne Rimer, 27, led the chase after crawling through the glass partition of an officer’s cruiser. Rimer was being detained on suspicion of shoplifting, according to WPXI. While she was handcuffed in the cruiser, she managed to drive nearly 10 miles with her hands behind her back.

“With her back turned and her hands cuffed behind her back, she manages to put it in gear and drive. And from what we can gather, she drove at very high speeds with that position somehow manipulating the gears and steering the wheel. Thank God no one else was hurt,” Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer said. “She put a lot of lives in danger.”

Kramer says Rimer drove down Route 51 at 100 mph for nearly 10 miles with her hands behind her back. The cruiser’s light and sirens were apparently on for the entire ride, which Kramer says he believes likely saved a lot of lives.

Rimer now faces a list of charges, including aggravated assault.
