Gov. Christie jokes about ‘rush on bread aisle’ at press conference

NEWARK (PIX11) - During a press conference announcing New Jersey's preparations for the massive blizzard set to bury the Northeast, Gov. Chris Christie still managed to get a joke in, poking fun at the flood of bread aisle photos in the news and on social media.

"And from all the reports I've seen, you've all been to the supermarket in the last 24 hours," Christie said.  "I don't know why the rush on bread, but what the heck."

One might think that toilet paper, wine, flashlights and other such essentials would be the first things to fly off the shelf -- but one would, apparently, be wrong.

Of all the items in the supermarket, shoppers were apparently dead-set on one aisle -- according to Twitter, at least:
