EDGEWATER, N.J. (PIX11) – An outpouring of generosity followed a fire that destroyed hundreds of homes at a New Jersey apartment complex earlier this week.

The latest gesture comes from Molos Restaurant in Weehawken, which is giving away free lunch for the next three days to anyone who lost their home at The Avalon at Edgewater.

Co-owner Eliana Stefanitsis said the offer runs 1 p.m. pt 3 p.m. Saturday through Monday. The restaurant is located about 2 miles away from The Avalon at 1 Pershing Road.

“We witnessed the flames and smelt the smoke and our hearts go out to the over 400+ families affected. Many of our customers lived in that building and we want to show our support to them as they have to us,” Stefanitsis told PIX11 News in an email Friday.

Victims can take their minds off the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives in the wake of the blaze by relaxing at the upscale waterfront hotel that specializes in seafood.

They just need to show an ID to prove they lived at The Avalon. Questions can be directed to 201-223-1200.
