STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The NYPD is helping search for a 17-year-old murder suspect from North Carolina who has ties to Staten Island, authorities said.

The Town of Clayton Police Department enlisted the help of the the FBI, NYPD and Philadelphia Police Department to find Cortas Quemel Lucas, Jr., who is accused of killing a 28-year-old man. Robert Lee Horton was found in his home with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest on Dec. 28.

Horton and Lucas knew each other, and a domestic dispute led to the shooting, the Clayton Police Department said in a release. Lucas has said he would "shoot it out" with police.

Lucas has a juvenile record and was wanted at the time of the shooting for violating probation by inflicting serious injury and trespassing charges. Although Clayton police say he has ties to gang activity, they believe the killing was a family-related issue.
