ASTORIA, Queens (PIX11) — The Super Bowl is just around the corner and while most tune in for football — many also watch for the commercials.

One of those commercials could possibly come from an Astoria man.

Alex Pepper, 25, entered the Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl commercial contest and is now one of the 10 worldwide finalists.

The 30-second commercial features Pepper as the main character — a guy intent on flirting with the girl next door while offering her Doritos on the rooftop during a perfect New York sunset.

What could go wrong?

The commercial is considered a true underdog as it was shot for $80 on the rooftop of Pepper’s own apartment, with the help of his girlfriend and friends.

The winner will be determined by online voting, with the top two commercials set to air during this year’s big game. The grand prize is a $1 million and a job at Universal Pictures.

Despite being part of a family of doctors, Pepper’s passion has always been performing.

He has been acting, dancing and doing comedy for as long as he can remember. While part of a nationwide musical tour, Pepper also became a huge fan of photography and eventually filmmaking.

After graduating from Elon University, he honed his entertainment chops as a recurring extra on a popular late-night television show, while also dancing regularly in major musicals and doing comedy in New York.
