HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. (PIX11) — A New Jersey pastor told his congregation that he punched a boy in the chest for “not taking the Lord serious.”

“He was just not taking the Lord seriously,” Pastor Eric Dammann of Bible Baptist Church said. “And I went over to him and I went ‘Bam.’ I punched him in the chest as hard as I could. I crumpled the kid. I just crumpled him.”

“I led that man to the Lord, right there,” he concluded.

A video of the July sermon was initially posted by Bible Baptist Church but was since deleted.

A YouTube video posted in December has drawn more than 1.7 million views.

Dammann told the New York Daily News that the story was taken out of context.
