MINEOLA, Long Island (PIX11) - A 43-year-old man was shot to death in his own driveway Sunday night, police said.

Police found the body of 43-year-old Oscar Granados in front of his Roslyn Road home just after 9:30 p.m.

Granados was pronounced dead at the scene minutes later.  "We have a killer on the loose and we're searching for that individual," said Captain John Azzata.  "We're out there looking at various avenues of investigation, basically tracking his last steps until he returned home."

Granados had just stepped out of a taxi in front of his house when he was shot.

Police told reporters Monday it could have been a robbery gone wrong.   Granados' brother told detectives that, from inside the house, he could hear someone loudly demanding money.

Family members say he was known to gamble, but nothing was taken off of his person that night.  Detectives and neighbors say that such a crime is rare for that neighborhood.

Granados is originally from El Salvador, according to Newsday, and has a teenage son living in Maryland.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
